So i just ordered take out, and I wanted mu shu veggie. So I pick it up, but when I get home it has chicken in it. So I pack it up and head angrily back to the restaurant. I see this homeless guy I saw on the walk back. I don't know he says, "What is it," and takes it out and looks at it. He says, "This has onions--i can't eat it, but it's ok, I know a couple of people who will." Wtf? Only in San Francisco.

Now I'm home eating pb&j :(

Ok mom, you were right. [Mar. 3rd, 2008|09:58 pm]
So all my life my mom has told me I have bad posture. She always comes up and brushes the middle of my back and tells me to put my shoulders back. I went through a very short-live phase where I had excellent posture my jr. year of high school, but it felt too preppy and uptight for me. In the past few years I've had a friend here or there mention my bad posture, and most recently Amy had a fit trying to force my shoulders back. Each time I defiantly moved them back forward refusing that something was wrong.

So tonight in my moulage (French pattern-making) class we were all wearing our mock-ups that are supposed to fit perfectly, and one by one we had to go up in front of the class and everyone would look and tell us what we need to fix while the instructor showed us how. So when it was my turn they all said the waist and hips looked great, but something was wrong with the chest. The instructor starred at me perplexed trying to figure it out, while one classmate commented that the area above my breasts seemed concave. Finally the instructor said, "Wait, you have bad posture. Put your shoulders back." I did, and the entire room of 20-30 women simultaneously sighed, "Ahhhh," and "Wow!" The instructor looked at me and said matter-of-factly, "You have horrible posture. I'm not going to alter your pattern, because this is something you seriously need to change, or you're going to end up with a dowager's hump." Maybe it was the way she said it, or the fact that a room full of people that all agreed, or maybe it was the fact that she had just finished fitting two older ladies who both had dowager's humps, but it really hit me then that I need to improve my posture.

As I was packing up to leave class all of these women were offering me suggestions and offering to lend me exercise equipment to help me. I felt sort of ashamed, since I have been to classes about how important posture is for health and never thought they applied to me. So I am asking you if you ever see me slouching, let me know. And if I give you attitude about it just tell me to shut up. I need to make this better.

Justin Timberlake Girl [Feb. 21st, 2008|11:58 pm]
Sometimes I wish I weren't so shy. Tonight Amy, Boris and I saw Yoav, a sexy Jewish boy from South Africa who opened for Tori Amos on her last tour. I could have spoken to him then, and I could have tonight, but I didn't. I'm terrible at meeting people and I don't know what I would say anyway, so it just seems better to keep to myself. The opening band(s) was this guy and girl from Montreal who covered "Cry Me a River" by JT. She said at the beginning that if anyone knew the lyrics they should come up and sing the second verse, because she (the singer) didn't know them. I thought everyone would know the lyrics, but I soon became aware that I was the only one. I was mouthing them to Amy, and the guitar player noticed. They were all like, come up! And Amy started pushing me. It was silly, and there was no way in hell I was going up there. Anyway, after Yoav played I was walking out, and the opening band was there yelling, "Come buy stuff!" When I walked buy, I heard the guitar player call out, "Hey, Justin Timberlake girl!" And that pretty much made my night. What would make my week is if all of my friends would start calling me that. Holla.

Mejor [Feb. 7th, 2008|10:58 pm]
One week ago I started working out. My energy level is way up, and so is my self-esteem. I feel happier and more motivated. Do any of you go to a gym? If so, what gym and do you like it? If I joined would you be willing to commit to working out with me at least 2 days a week?

I've also officially been 3 weeks without sweets. Except for a tiny package of red hots that came with some jeans I ordered online and the fireball that came with my bman ticket, but I figured it was ok to eat those because I don't like them, therefore there is no danger of addiction. They neither satiated nor triggered a sweets desire.

Babies Gone Wild [Feb. 6th, 2008|10:42 pm]
Vote for Andie's baby in the 94.9 cutest baby contest (if for no other reason than the fact that she really is the cutest baby).

Verde [Feb. 2nd, 2008|03:50 pm]
My mom keeps pestering to post pictures of my room since I painted it, so here you go:

It's called "Corn husk green." It reminds me of bamboo.

In other news: Leisure is tonight, and I have no one to go with. I am not going to that meat market alone.

In other other news, my roommate got into grad school. I may be looking for a roommate after April.

In other other other news, I have now been 16 days without dessert. Go me.

I ate so much chocolate I think I want to die. I am going on a cleanse as of now. No sweets for two weeks.

I am awesome. [Jan. 4th, 2008|10:25 pm]
Same pattern as the plaid dress, this time with cap sleeves, no fullness at the bottom and black piping at the yoke seam:

No!

So, Skye got me this fabric a long time ago. The rad part? Underneath all the No!'s it has glow in the dark "YES!'s." I hope that it's black-light reactive for when I go out dancing. Scandelous!

Wholey Moley [Dec. 24th, 2007|11:18 am]
Last night my aunt and I convinced my dad we needed milkshakes even though it was snowing outside. We went to Burger King, and I made sure to tell my dad I wanted a small before he went in. He came out with three larges! I told him, "What are you trying to do? I bet this thing has 700 calories!" He and my aunt finished theirs in 5 minutes. I restrained myself and only drank a quarter of it and then froze the rest at home.

I just looked it up online: 950 colories, 29 grams of fat. Woot woot!

I'm never flying United ever again even if I don't get to go through the puff daddy terminal. [Dec. 22nd, 2007|12:16 pm]
I had a plane at 6 yesterday. When I got to the airport at 4 I didn't have a seat assignment, so I assumed I was on standby. While waiting in the security check line the guy came running out, jumped over the line separators and was being chased my security guards. The guy in front of me grabbed him and he fell to the ground. I just stood and watched. He got up and kept running, but he was a sagger and his pants fell around his ankles. I thought for sure that was the end of it, but he just jumped right out of them like he was used to it and kept on running in his boxers. Police cars came and got him. I turned around and things went back to normal.

When the United worker guy showed up behind the flight counter I went and asked him if I was on standby. He looked up my name, said "yes," and that he would call me if there was a space. Well he went through that whole process and took 5 people from standby and I was left behind. I went to ask him if I would be on the next flight, and while walking away he told me he "rolled it over." He wouldn't even look it up or help me. A woman was there who worked for United but wasn't working that day (just traveling). She was kind enough to look me up on the next flight, but she couldn't find me. She looked at my ticket and said, "That's strange, you had a confirmed seat on that last flight--you should have been on it." I was so frustrated I started crying. The guy who had been there before had totally messed up and wouldn't even look at my ticket when I had been at the counter, and then he gave my seat away. The lady told me the only thing I could do was be added to the standby list for the redeye and go wait at customer service to talk to a supervisor to see if they could give me a confirmed seat. So I waited in the customer service line for an hour, and then they had me wait by the side for an hour. I finally asked if there was any chance I would get to speak to one, and they said probably not. I went to a bar and waited. The thing that makes me so mad is that I paid $375 to switch my ticket in the first place, and because of their error I didn't get my flight. Not to mention my time was wasted. I spent a couple hours crying. When I call United I get put on hold--another guy I was in line with told me he had to wait on hold for an hour--I don't feel like I should have to waste anymore of my time because they messed up. My dad told me I can deny the credit card charge for the flight change, so I guess that's what I'll be doing.

I was able to get on the 11:15, and now I'm in Illinois. There is snow and it is dreary and beautiful.

Plaid and poofy [Dec. 20th, 2007|08:08 pm]
This is the dress I made for pattern making. I first had to create a flat paper pattern and then sew the garment. It is a plaid cotton dress. It has a yoke that is on the bias, a keyhole neckliine with a mandarin collar, juliette sleeves and a pannel with added fullness at the bottom. There is also added fullness beneath the yoke.

There is a yoke on the back as well.

I plan to take this same pattern and create a little black dress without the poofy part at the bottom and with short sleeves.

This is the dress I made in draping. I had to take muslin (cheap fabric), put it up to the dress form and mold it to be the form I wanted. Then I took these fabric pieces and used them to cut out the pieces in my fashion fabric. It is a bustier top with boning, hook and eye tape in the front and button closure in the back. The top is made from the remainders of my grandma's curtains, and the bottom is the same raw silk I used to make my curtains. The bottom is a five gore (pannel) bubble skirt with an invisible side zipper. It is four inches longer in the back than the front.

I never thought I would use my grandma's fabric for anything, but I think it goes perfectly with the skirt.

The best part is they both fit me. I don't know how that happened, since the form has a 26" waist and I definitely do not, but I'm not going to complain. My camera is broken, but when I get it back I will post pictures of that as well.

Vengeful Fire Ghost? [Dec. 9th, 2007|01:59 pm]
The place accross the street from me is on fire:

This is the second house in 6 months to go up in flames in my square block. And the only reason my place was built is because the grocery store that used to be here burnt down.

Dude. I can't believe I can make an entire pattern for an outfit from scratch. This class has taught me so much, and I'm really good at it. In the next couple weeks I will post pictures of my final garments.

New Wave City [Dec. 2nd, 2007|02:37 am]
Tonight I was going to try out Leisure for the first time, but I went to New Wave City instead because all my friends were there. When I got to my car 20 minutes ago I saw that I no longer had a passenger side window. All of my belongings were thrown about the car and the seat was fully reclined so you can tell they looked hard. The funny thing is the only thing they took was my cd player, and the power adapter that's been broken for about a month. They left behind all of my cds--I had at least 60, and at least 10 of those were new and in their cases. They also left behind 10 bucks and my Dior sunglasses. I don't get it--what were they looking for? Now they have a cd player worth probably 2 bucks and I'm probably out over 200 for a new window (and another 200 for an ipod since it's about time). I'm glad my friend Lee was there when I got to my car. He kept me calm, and I feel alright. The main thing that stresses me out is I have so much stuff to do tomorrow and this just doesn't fit into my schedule.

Ella es mi favorita. [Oct. 15th, 2007|09:59 pm]
I bought myself a bouquet. It has three roses, a sunflower, and lots of other pretty flowers that I don't know the names for.

Dahlia finally broke her three week grudge against me and we are back together. She loves me. She makes squeeks and sighs when she moves as she is falling asleep--just like me. She is so adorable.

Jillian (Alex's gf) and I went to a BBQ last week. Bonus: there were kittens!

I wanted to adopt this one and name him ghengis khan.

There were six--I got to feed a couple from a bottle.

Jillian is one of my new favoritist people to hang out with because she's a vegatarian and a bitch, just like me.

Oh ya I got a butt-rocker hair cut. It look real pretty when it's curled, but you gotta check that out on myspace cos that's where vain pictures belong.
