FTW: I picked up my car this morning from a dad at my work who works at an autobody place. He fixed my dented bumper and repainted my trunk, all for $450. and it just so happens he had spare tail lights laying around, so he replaced mine that was broken. It looks beautiful.
FTL: Five minutes later I overzealously tried to squeeze in between a truck and a fire truck and smashed the glass on my size mirror.
FTL part II: I've already had that dad fix that mirror before, and there's no way I'm going back to him for that again.
FTL: As I was driving away from the autobody place I noticed my car making a thumping noise. There was a huge bigger-than-a-nail nail logged in my right front tire that was not there before I gave dad my car. Total cost to repair at wheel works (because out of dad's favor cannot go back to dad to tell him he messed up) $30 and an hour of wasted time in the cold.
FTW: While waiting got two veggie tacos and a soda for $5. Hooray Mexican food!
FTW: New sony ericsson arrived in the mail today. I finally have my old phone back!
FTL: The system has been updated and the keys are different. That, combined with using a razor the last two months has turned my brain to mush.
FTL: Tax refund arrived along with a letter saying it would be $280 less due to mistakes. Bastards!
FTL: While trying to figure out how to use my phone's walkman feature with my mac I accidentally unplugged the power cord for my computer and external hard drive. Computer is fine (knock knock knock), but external hard drive won't turn on. Nothing on it is backed up.
FTW: I figured out how to get music onto my phone from my mac without any help. I am a genius! |

For all you facebookers, I need to clear some things up.
First off, I am most definitely NOT pregnant, and definitely not with twins. On Monday I came to work wearing one of those popular maternity style shirts, that I happenED to really like, until Raiden, a first grader blurted out in front of two of my staff, "Are you pregnant?" Kelly and David both burst out laughing, and I had no other option but to hold my stomach out and say, "Yes, with twins. They're kicking, Raiden, do you want to feel?" So for the rest of the week I've been joking about the babies. So that's where my facebook post claiming I was having twins came from.
Tonight just to clear that up I wrote this post: "Diana is not pregnant, but is excited about all the attention she received by pretending. She has decided to start lying about more things." Immediately after that I posted, "Diana got in a horrible car accident." Thinking the joke was really clear I was super surprised to receive a panicked text from Skye less than a minute later asking me if I were ok. I went back to my wall, but didn't see the post where I wrote I had decided to lie more. More comments started coming in, and I quickly put another post up saying I hadn't been in an accident. And now I basically feel and look like a huge jerk.
So ya--I'm ok, and I'm not having any babies. And I really hope this clears the slate so karma doesn't bite me in the ass. |

Ok people--I'm trying to remember the names of two movies from my childhood. The first one was about a guy who works at an advertising company (maybe Tom Selleck?) who makes a sarcastic ad that accidentally gets turned in, but the company loves it so they go with it. One of the ads was, "Fedex: We'll screw over other people just to get your package there on time." Another was for Toyota or something and it boasted that since Asian people made them and they are shorter that their eyes are closer to the parts and are therefore superior.
The second I thought was a Steve Guttenberg flick, but I couldn't find it. It's about pergatory. This guy dies in a car crash, and then gets on a bus to purgatory where he is assigned a lawyer and has to look at clips from his life to see if he is worthy going to heaven or if he needs to go back to Earth again to improve. Edit: found it. It's called "Defending your Life." |

I received a lot of really thoughtful gifts this year. They made me feel like my friends really understand me. About a year ago I loosely joked that I didn't know why I hadn't get become one of those people with a ridiculous collection, seeing as how I am so into bees. Well I guess that comment was heard, as I now own two bee t-shirts, a bee toy, harmonica, necklace, belt buckle, honeycomb necklace, plant, bouncing toy, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some. I also worked really hard on gifts this year, but haven't given most away yet. I really hope my friends like what I made, because I would be happy to wear any of the gifts I'm giving away. The only hard part is figuring out which gift is for which person. |

| Green Messenger Bag |
[Oct. 26th, 2008|11:49 pm] |
Here's the new bag I made.

It's the same fabric I used for my last one, but this one is a lot more sophisticated. There's gathers at the front with a ribbon bow and button accents. I added a side cell phone pocket with Velcro closure. There's still a front pocket, but on top of that I added pencil/pen slots, and other slots to fit my ipod/gum etc. The bag closes with magnetic snaps.

I was smart this time and made a pattern, so it will be easier to make more in the future. Yay me.
If I'm hard to reach these days it's because all I do is work and sew. I'm thinking of lightening my load next semester and just taking one class. |

Saturday night my best friend, Meghan, called me to tell me that her mom was in the hospital. Apparently two weeks ago she had lost her love for coffee, and then started to experience nausea and stomach pains. A couple of years ago she had an eye tumor, which she had beat, but I guess it was melanoma and it spread though her body. They performed surgery yesterday, and I guess it was worse than they thought. They had to remove her colon and her uterus, and I guess the cancer was in her rectum, pancreas, ovaries, and more. When Meghan told me I felt like I was going to throw up and pass out. I can't even imagine what she feels like. BTW, if I was a bummer at DG last night, this is why. I was already dressed up when I got the news, and I should have just stayed home.
Today I was walking by my boss' office, and I heard her cry out, "Both of them? But how?" And she started crying. Usually she is very composed, so I was surprised. Later I received an email from her. Jessica, the first boss I had at this organization, just announced at our last Director meeting that she was four months pregnant with twins. Well she went in for a routine checkup today, only to be informed that neither of them had a heartbeat.
I can't imagine anything more heartbreaking than either of those things. |

| Crime |
[Sep. 2nd, 2008|08:39 am] |
The owner of the corner store by my house was robbed and stabbed by 4 men two nights ago. I go in the store almost every day and he is always nice to me. I don't get why you have to stab someone if you're going to rob them, especially if it's four to one. I went in yesterday and asked his wife how he was doing, and she said he would be out of the hospital in two weeks. I asked how she was doing. Her face was pale and she looked like she was somewhere else. She seemed to appreciate the question. Then someone else came in to ask her about her husband so I left. I know that there's a ton of crime in other areas in the city, but it seems so weird in Glen Park. I think what scares me the most is that all of the crime happens within two blocks of where I live. The owner of the grocery store was mugged a few months ago, my former roommate Anna was mugged 1.5 months ago, the pet store was robbed on August 5th, and someone was shot two blocks from where I live this month. WTF? Maybe it's because I'm from the suburbs, but this makes me want to start a neighborhood watch.

A week ago I told Jillian I only wanted to speak over email, but she refused and said she would only communicate by phone. After a week of the silent treatment, she sent this:
"As far as all of this goes- your a closed minded drama queen who is unable to not judge your friends because of your own insecurities and jealousy issues. I was fine with all of this and loved you anyway until you wouldn't stop getting on your judgemental high horse and pointing you finger at me. For you to not call me and not return any of my messages also shows your level of maturity- limited. Again i didn't care until it spilled over into my life in a very fucked manor. I am not you and have no desire to be as "perfect" as you. I am some one who celebrates that differences in people- you should try it sometimes."
I will fess up to being judgmental, but for one I think everyone is, and for two, my judgments are usually for good purposes such as looking out for people I care about. I think it's pretty funny that in her mind this is a letter to try to work through things. |

| Snuffy |
[Jun. 1st, 2008|12:55 am] |
Overall my slumber party was successful. There was a steady stream of girls all night, and even Lee and Pete stopped by. We watched Three Men and a Baby, and all my girl friends drooled over the cute baby and Tom Selic's butt.
On a sadder note, about an hour into the party Snuffy, the guinea pig from my work that I took home this weekend died. He's been sick for a few weeks but was finally starting to get better yesterday, but I took him home just to be on the safe side. All day I nursed him and fed him through a tube while petting his little white nose. I haven't cried that hard in a while.
If have so much sugar in my house right now it's not funny. If you want cupcakes or beer, I'm your girl. Call me! Thanks to everyone who came out. |

| go shorty, it's your birthday |
[May. 23rd, 2008|02:11 pm] |
This morning I messaged my hair guy asking if he could cut my hair today, but he couldn't. I was going crazy with it, and I knew I had to do something. I went to 3 salons by my house--the first two had no slots, but the third one started on me right away. Every time I've gotten an impulsive hair cut at a new place it's turned out badly, but I figured I could fix it. After washing my hair I sat down, and the guy started going at it with a razor! He wasn't even clipping my hair up or anything--he literally just hacked away. I was so nervous, since the guy who usually cuts my hair is a perfectionist and takes two hours. This guy was done in 30. As he started blow drying my hair it looked like crap, but suddenly something changed and it was awesome! It usually takes me 2 weeks to get used to a hair cut, but this one I like right away. Hooray!
So I've been thinking lots about what I want to do for my birthday--a dinner, a party, a club night. I think what I figured out is that I really want to have a slumber party. Ya--that's right. I want my friends to come over in their pj's, eat pizza and popcorn, watch scary movies, and sleep over. It's looking like the only time near my birthday that I can do that is Saturday, the 31st. Is anyone down with that? |
